Growing Young Using Osmogro® Plant Watering
Osmogro® houseplant watering kits and technology are an excellent aid for successfully rooting plant cuttings and propagating young plants and seeds. The geraniums growing on the windowsill beside the beautiful mini-azalea were all cuttings rooted in pots using Osmogro® self-watering systems with a clear plastic bag over the pot and reservoir for the first 4 weeks. No special rooting chemicals or gels were used to achieve these results. It is possible that the water in the open Osmogro® reservoir creates ideally humid conditions to help promote the rooting process, while the special Osmogro® hydrogel membrane maintains optimum moisture levels in the growing medium. Other indoor plants successfully rooted and propagated using Osmogro® automatic watering technology include African violets, streptocarpus, parsley, basil and an orange tree from seed. Growing and propagating plants from seeds and cuttings is a fascinating and rewarding pastime and makes a fun and interesting way of introducing children (of all ages!) to the wonderful world of plants and gardening.

Osmogro® Self-Watering Technology Performs Better Than Capillary Wicking
One of the UK's leading commercial growers of flowering houseplants tested the performance of the Osmogro® plant watering system in comparison with watering using capillary matting trays in a shelf-life room under controlled environmental conditions. The plants tested in the study were Chrysanthemum, Begonia and New Guinea Impatiens. The results demonstrated that watering houseplants using Osmogro® gel membrane self-watering technology can considerably improve the ornamental lifetimes and appearance of indoor plants; Chrysanthemums by ~40%, Begonias by ~20% and New Guinea Impatiens by ~20%. As well as improving ornamental lifetimes, the Osmogro® plant care system also provides an easy indication for when to re-water - just keep your reservoir topped up with water. The Osmogro® automatic plant watering system will help to keep your reservoir water clean and clear - no more nasty smells or unsightly dirty brown water - and the unique Osmogro® gel membrane will act as an effective barrier to the transport of bacteria and other species that are potentially harmful to your indoor plants.
Osmogro® Self-Watering Means Orchids Are Easy!
Osmogro® plant watering trials using Cymbidium & Phalaenopsis Orchids have proved to be a spectacular success, achieving improved growth, extended flowering and, of course, easier plant care and watering. Trials are currently being extended to include other popular orchid varieties and contact has been made with commercial orchid growers. The event, held at The Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston near Edinburgh, proved a fantastic forum for raising awareness of the revolutionary Osmogro® houseplant watering and plant care technology. BBC Scotland's popular prime time television gardening programme, The Beechgrove Garden, reported on their successful tests of the unique Osmogro® self-watering technology. The show's popular host, Jim McColl, and the Beechgrove team used Osmogro® automatic plant watering kits to water and care for a range of popular houseplants between October 2004 and the end of April 2005. Better Blooming Begonias!
An independent study by Horticulture Research International & East Malling Research found that watering Begonias using the Osmogro® self-watering pot system not only increased the rate of emergence of flowers over the first three weeks by about 40% but also increased the size of the individual flowers by 32%. Other houseplants successfully tested as part of the study included chrysanthemum, poinsettia and cyclamen. The independent study concluded that "...the Osmogro® system makes the watering of houseplants simpler and more reliable for the novice, whilst also offering benefits for the expert."
